Project Description

This project created a new artificial reef site (Outer Continental Shelf Block Brazos BA-439) within Texas State waters in the Gulf of Mexico, approximately 10 miles offshore of Matagorda County, Texas. The artificial reef was created within a 160-acre permitted area, through deployment of predesigned concrete pyramids onto sandy substrate at a water depth of 60 feet. This project has successfully enhanced recreational fishing and diving opportunities.
