Project Description

This project impacts a total of 3,274 acres of brackish and saline coastal marsh and 20 acres of beach habitat benefiting a diverse array of migratory birds and other wildlife in southeast Louisiana. Partners will restore important migratory bird habitat through construction of marsh terraces to restore water quality and increase vegetation; placing near shore breakwater structures to reduce or reverse wave erosion on beachfronts and into adjacent marsh; and planting erosion control vegetation at key points protecting hydrologic integrity of vulnerable marshes.
