Project Description

This proposal focuses on enhancement of two wetland projects representing 482 acres of wetland habitat. Failure to reinvest in these wetlands will create a real risk of future loss of these critical wetlands. The work will be focused across two EHJV priority areas: 1) Bay of Quinte, with the restoration of Beaver Meadows that is 128 acres in area and 2) St. Lawrence (1000 Islands) with the restoration of Amherst Island Marsh at 354 acres in size. These two proposed enhancement projects, in a region of high species richness, will ensure the long-term availability of critical breeding and staging/stopover habitat for 28 of the species listed as priorities for BP Oil Spill Funding.
