Project Description

The goal of this project is to conserve critical habitats within the Touchwood Hills/Conjuring Creek Landscape of the Canadian Prairie Pothole Region (PPR) to provide long-term benefits to a diversity of species impacted by the British Petroleum (BP) Oil Spill. The grasslands and wetlands in the Touchwood Hills/Conjuring Creek Landscape provide a diversity of important habitats for breeding and migratory stages of the life cycle for numerous species. Upland habitats provide a wealth of habitat diversity for species using this landscape. Wetland habitats are equally diverse, and the Touchwood Hills/Conjuring Creek Landscape includes several basin types ranging from ephemeral, to temporary, to seasonal, to semi-permanent, to permanent wetlands. Each of these wetland types provides unique habitat for migrating, foraging and nesting birds.
