Project Description

This project is phase three of an ongoing effort to protect, restore, establish and enhance wetland/grassland communities using a landscape level approach to planning. Areas with high wetland and waterfowl population densities will be targeted to implement wetland and grassland conservation strategies. This phase will conserve and improve wetland and grassland habitat on 33,186 acres in north central North Dakota. Natural wetlands and the native grasslands that are associated with them continue to be lost to the expansion of crop production across North Dakota. Fee title acquisition and the purchase of conservation easements will perpetually protect this valuable grassland and wetland habitat.
