Project Description

Acquire 12,376 acres of Chenier Plain habitats, including extensive fresh and intermediate tidal marsh, coastal prairie, pondshore and salty prairie. Acquisition will secure the entire major watershed feeding Willow Sough Marsh, the largest remaining coastal freshwater marsh in Texas. The acquired property will be transferred to the McFaddin National Wildlife Refuge and bring the Refuge's total holdings to 71,237 acres. Co-funded by NFWF (Project ID 1334), NRDA, and RESTORE Bucket 2.
