Project Description

Acquire and convey to Texas Parks and Wildlife Department 3 tracts of land in one ownership totaling approximately 414 acres on Follets Island, a Texas barrier island south of Galveston Island, of which NFWF will provide funding for 330 acres. Project will help restore species harmed by the Deep Water Horizon oil spill and will provide critical habitat for the endangered piping plover, waterfowl, and waterbirds, and protect a unique native prairie type known as Strand Prairie.
